It is endemic to Crete and grows wild on its own on the rocky slopes of the mountains, in cliffs and gorges.
Dictamnus has a spicy and slightly bitter taste with a strong and sharp aroma of Mediterranean oregano that dominates and characterizes the profile of this unique aromatic plant.
As a seasoning it suits seafood "dishes", cool salads and soft cheeses.
