Cultivated in some areas as an herb due to the strong minty flavor of its leaves. Contains tannins and volatile oils. The essential oil extract from the plant is used in aromatherapy. It has been used since ancient times until today as an aromatic and as a spice in cooking, sweets, salads, in distillery and in pharmacopoeia. It acts as an anti-inflammatory, choleretic, antidiarrheal, expectorant, spasmolytic. It has an effect on the liver, against diarrhea and especially against muscle contractions (cramps). It acts against nervous vomiting, uterine pains, vertigo and migraine, anti-influenza.
