Melissa officinalis, also known as lemon balm, balm, wild bee, lemon balm, is a perennial plant of the mint family Lamiaceae, and is native to central-southern Europe and the Mediterranean region.
Its folk and botanical name Melissa reflects that it has the same properties as honey and royal jelly, it is aromatic, sour and slightly bitter, and has healing properties.
